Anti-Discrimination Coalition
On June 4, 2011 the Senate passed HB 6599 20-16. Planned Parenthood, a long time coalition partner, is thrilled with the passage of this bill which will make protections explicit and uniform in Connecticut’s non-discrimination law by adding gender identity and gender expression. Please take a moment and thank your Senator if they voted yes.

Currently CT non-discrimination law does not protect from discrimination based on gender identity and expression. This is about fairness and equality for all CT residents. As health care providers we are committed to taking necessary steps to ensure a non-discriminatory environment for everyone. What we know is transgender people are underserved in our health care system and lack access to culturally competent providers, which is only one form of discrimination they face in our society. CT residents deserve fairness and equality, not only in accessing healthcare but in accessing employment, housing, education and public accommodations which is what this legislation will do. Contact your Senators today if they voted in support, please thank them for their vote and for supporting fairness and equality.
